The Ancient City Game Fish Association (ACGFA)

The Ancient City Game Fish Association (ACGFA) was organized in 1958. We currently have approximately 130 Members, 6 Honorary Members, and 9 Lifetime Members. Our membership year is from June 1st to May 30th. Dues are $50 a year for a Membership. For new members only, dues are ½ price from December 1st to May 30th.

The purposes of this organization are to promote the sport of fishing in this area and do whatever is in our power to improve fishing grounds and facilities in the area.

The ACGFA is very family oriented. We have annual fishing awards for Boats-of-the-Year (inshore and offshore) and Anglers-of-the-Year (Men, Women, Junior (age 8 to 16) and Small-fry (7 and under).

In addition, there are fishing tournaments for various species almost every month as well as two fish fry/cook-out events, a Christmas Party for the family, and the End of Year Awards/Membership Dinner. Our meetings are conducted at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 1st Street, St. Augustine, Florida. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour and the general meeting starts at 7:30. We usually have snacks and a speaker and a "Kids Club" for young anglers. Guests are welcome.

February Meeting - BOZARD FORD & Ancient City Game Fish Challenge Kick-Off Party

On February 19, 2013 the membership of the ACGFA was graciously invited to Bozard Ford for our monthly meeting.  Bozard Ford is our tournament headline sponsor once again this year, and constantly helps and supports ACGFA.   The tournament was kicked off and information was provided to the meeting attendees on rule changes, tournament format changes, and exciting new features of the tournament for this year.  However, the biggest announcement of the evening was that this year the Ancient City Game Fish Challenge will be fished IN MEMORY OF JERAD REVELS. Jerad Revels was a high school student, who tragically lost his life while working on his family farm before school this year.  This event directly affected the St Augustine community, and this event will be a way to celebrate his life and remember Jerad Revels.  At the event a new tournament banner was presented to the club, that will soon be making its way around to local St. Augustine businesses.  Also, the club present tournament coins to the family members in attendance, these coins have tournament logos on one side and Jerad Revels remembrance on the other side.  Please come out to support this event by fishing in the tournament, helping to work the tournaments, or providing ideas to make this one special event for the family and friends of Jerad Revels.

Also, the meeting included information for our annual kids dock tournament, to be held at St Augustine Marina on March 16th.  Registration starts at 8:00, with the fishing clinic at 9:00, and a dock tournament from 10:00 to 12:00 with awards and lunch to follow.  Each participant will receive a hotdog, chips, cookie, and water (lunch will be available for adults for a small donation).  This is a great event and everyone is welcome.  Also, discussed was the April 14th benefit for Wanda and Leroy Kinlaw, this will be great event with RED RIVER BAND, a horseshoe tournament, food and drinks, for additional information or tickets please contact Chip Whitfield.

Please feel free to contact Matt Morse (410-925-3671) with tournament questions/ideas or Chip Whitfield for club related business.  Thank you once again to BOZARD FORD for the support and making this evening fun and exciting.
