NOTICE: There will not be a General meeting on Tuesday September 18th.  Our Next Meeting is Saturday, September 22nd at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 1st St.  There will be the weigh-in for the B.S. Open Tournament from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm followed by a fish fry, awards and raffle beginning at 6:00 pm.  It looks like a lot of fun with great prizes.  It is meant to show our appreciation to the many Bait Shops that support our club by weighing our fish.  Please help by entering or helping work the tournament.

Last Month’s Meeting:  Donna Frantz presented a check for $3,000 from our proceeds from the Kingfish Challenge Raffle to Bill VanZante, owner of the MacDonald’s Restaurants in St Augustine and Board member of Ronald MacDonald’s House, Jacksonville . Donna Frantz  reported on the Kingfish Challenge.  The tournament was very sucessful and the Junior Kingfish Challenge will be increased to 200 next year. Congratulations to all 63 volunteers who did an outstanding job and to our club members who fished the tournament.  Sports radio am1420 host Truitt Yarbourgh provided information concerning fishing rules changes.  Thanks go to Donna Westbrook who provided hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimming.  They were great.

Membership Drawing:  Congratulations to Brian Sousa who won the $100. Be there this month to win $100.  You must be present to win.   It pays to attend the meetings.

Raffle:   Dave Russell and Bob Swann had another great raffle which included; rods & reels, cooler, and many other fishing items.  I did not get the names of all the winners but winners included: David Chapman, Paul Taylor, Stan Yekalis, Greg Ruddreow, Linda Manucy, Dave Russell, Paul Harvey, and Tom Hunter.  This month Dave and Bob will have another great raffle which may include Cooler, Lure Bags/Tackle Boxes, Rods & Reels and other great items.

Club Shirts, Etc.:   Wil & Teeka have some great colors now. Fishing Hats are here. They have ACGFA Shirts and some Tank Tops, Kingfish Challenge Shirts, Rig Bags, and Towels for sale depending on what was left over from the Tournament. Teeka is taking special orders for Christmas gifts now.

Nomination of Officers: Voting will be conducted at the October meeting and installation of the officers and board at the November meeting. The Nominating Committee will nominate the ollowing club officers which are: President - Joe Noda; Vice President – TBA; Secretary – Carolyn Emert; Treasurer – Linda Manucy; and 4 Directors (the Past President John Jordan will serve as a Director) and 2 Alternate Directors – Vote for 5 from the following: Ruth Jordan, Bert Walton, Wil Franke, Stephanie Burt, Donna Frantz, James Manucy, Carmel Cunningham, & David Chapman.  The Board operates the club’s business and is very important to the club.  You may also submit nominations from the floor providing the person nominated is willing to accept the office. You can also volunteer to Chair or serve on Committees.

Membership:  If your Mailing Label is printed in RED you were members last year but our records show you have not renewed your memberships yet.  If this is not correct let us know. We need all of you back so please mail or bring your dues to the meeting.  Your fish don’t count if your dues are not paid. NO PAY, NO WEIGH.

HELP WANTED:  Raffle Committee.  The Christmas Party will be  Bob Swann and Dave Russell’s last raffle. They have done an outstanding job with the raffle and they will be hard to replace. The job involves purchasing the raffle items, setting up, selling tickets and conducting the raffle.  It can be done with one person but a two person team works much better. If interested, please let John Jordan know at the meeting.
